Rodgers Flop Heading for Parkhead Exit – New Interest Emerges

It’s unlikely there will be movement until the summer, but it’s clear from reports Lee Congerton is on borrowed time at Celtic. Whether that wants to be spun as he’s looking at his options or there’s lots of interest from elsewhere is all fine with Celtic fans if they believe the end result is the head of recruitment gone from Glasgow.

Lee was brought in by Brendan Rodgers when he came into Celtic to unearth new talent, but in reality, we have seen very little evidence he’s up to the job. The former chief scout at the Stadium of Light was handed the important role at Celtic much to the bemusement of some Sunderland fans at the time who did warn us.

Now with Brendan Rodgers gone to Leicester, there’s a feeling Congerton will be heading there in the summer to rejoin the Irishman but an old link has resurfaced with Anderlecht with a former friend and colleague of the Celtic scout, Frank Arnesen heading up the Belgian clubs scouting overhaul.

Celtic fans are not fussy and are not bothered how Lee makes his departure from the club. Chris Sutton believes Celtic should get John Park back in the position.

There’s an opportunity in the summer for Celtic to change their structure and bring in a Director of Football, something they were looking at when Brendan was still here – that appointment could be as big as the managerial decision.
