Celtic Players To Commemorate Touching Cause On Their Shirts On Trophy Day

Celtic fans are preparing for a party tomorrow in the searing Glasgow sunshine as the Hoops get their hands on a third successive Scottish Premiership title.

Their route to league glory this campaign has perhaps not been as smooth as supporters would have liked but despite managerial change last summer, some key players departing, and countless injury issues transpiring throughout the season, the Celts pulled through.

Manager Brendan Rodgers dealt with what he was given admirably. He got the best out of his players, some of whom likely weren’t of the quality he desired.

The gaffer said last year he’ll see the supporters back at Celtic Park for a title celebration in May, and that is precisely what he did on Wednesday evening.

Once again on Saturday, it will be party time in Glasgow’s east end as the Bhoys prepare to end their league campaign in style.

For the match against St. Mirren, the players will commemorate the Irish famine by sporting the Celtic cross on their jerseys.

The match-worn shirts – which will eventually be signed by the champions – will go up for auction at kick-off, with all funds raised supporting children and young people through Celtic FC Foundation’s Community Games and Ability Counts projects in Ireland.

Another classy act, it is pleasing to see the club remember its roots ahead of National Famine Commemoration Day this Sunday.
