CELTIC are tonight closing in on a deal for Preston centre-back Ben Davies with Sky Sports reporting negotiations are going very well.

The defender is out of contract in the summer and it’s thought the club is close to announcing a deal. Ben has been at Preston his whole career but has had stints out on loan at various clubs.

The 25-year-old centre-back has played 19 times in the Championship this season for his side but is not looking to sign a new deal with the club.

If Celtic can get this deal over the line, there’s every chance they will look to get a deal done for the player this month and bring him in for the rest of this season.

Celtic are in need of a centre back who can come in and hit the ground running. Considering he’s up to match fitness, it could be a good piece of business for the Hoops.
