Celtic Offered Welsh International After Top Season – Report

Celtic have been linked with a move for Wales international Rabbi Matondo according to WalesOnline.

The report also states they winger is also in talks with Celtic’s Glasgow rivals — which throws up an immediate red flag.

Matondo, who came through the youth ranks of Manchester City, is currently at FC Schalke. However, the Welsh international spent last season out on loan with Belgian side Cercle Brugge where the 21-year-old grabbed 10 goals and 2 assists.

Cercle were keen to keep the player but have admitted defeat due to lack of funds to sign the international star.

In Belgium’s top flight Rabbi played 2023 minutes of football, had a 65% passing accuracy, 41% successful dribbles, won 73% of tackles made. The player has earned 10 caps for his country already.

Right now, there are two or three stories a day that pop up and die off very promptly. It’s hard to see the wood for the trees during the height of the transfer window nonsense.

So many agents are out there pushing their players and giving information to the media about who is interested — even when it’s not the case.

A lot of the time — these names do make it onto desks at Celtic Park when agents offer them out to a number of clubs. This doesn’t constitute an interest and until there’s a bit more information from more credible sources — we’ll file it under unlikely for now.
