Enough is Enough: Petty Dave King Move Should be Scrapped

As we approach a supportless Glasgow Derby this weekend it’s easy to forget that the game itself was diluted two seasons ago. Celtic’s allocation was cut in what we perceive as a petty move by our city rival’s.

Instead of 8000 travelling fans travelling to Govan, we get 800 nowadays. Celtic’s dominance in the fixture, particularly at the home of their rival’s was hard to take for some and the sight of 8000 Celtic fans revelling in victory so often left a bitter taste.

With no consultation between the clubs, Dave King cut the allocation, and the fixture lost something on that day.

Celtic had no choice but to reciprocate and cut the Parkhead allocation for the travelling support.

Now, as we try to come to terms with a Glasgow Derby which will have no fans – it should be the catalyst for bringing back the away supports allocation when this is all over.

It’s time to stop being petty, bring back both allocations and watch the derby in all its noise and ceremony. Enough is enough.
