Celtic must Cash In on £7million Star in January – Hartson

FORMER Celtic striker John Hartson believes Celtic MUST sell Dedryck Boyata in January if another bid of £7million comes in for the defender.

Hartson, who was talking Celtic at a Ladbrokes Gambling aware campaign was positive about Celtic’s chances of a treble treble but the Welshman think Celtic have to be prepared to let the Belgian go in the winter window.

“If Celtic get a big bid for Boyata, seven or eight million, then he has to go. It’s a no-brainer.” Hartson told the Evening Times.

“They have still got Kris Ajer, Jack Hendry, Jozo Simunovic and Filip Benkovic, so I think it’s a real possibility Boyata could go.”

Not many fans will buy this though. If Celtic were to sell Boyata in January then to see Jack Hendry come in as a potential replacement would be hard to swallow for some.

With injuries to key men without Boyata, the Celtic defence could fall to pieces.

Is it worth keeping the defender until the summer and letting him go for nothing as Celtic look to bag a treble treble?

Rodgers spoke on Saturday about the player’s future and said there was still scope for the World Cup star to sign a new deal but that was between him and the club.
