As the pandemic bit back in 2020, Celtic made a point of telling Hoops fans Jozo Simunovic and Jonny Hayes had left the club after their contracts had expired.
Both men had a year extension clause the club didn’t take up due to the uncertainty of the football climate at the time.
More and more we’re seeing clubs communicating to fans via their website what players are now out of contract and are leaving.
Celtic don’t tend to do this other than the Jozo and Hayes announcements.

Given Karamoko Dembele is out of contract and a few other lower level players – would it not be productive to tell fans these players will not be with the champions come next season?
Right now, if Karamoko signs for another club, we’ll find out from the new club rather than Celtic when it comes to an official Celtic exit.
Fans should know the state of play when it comes to the squad. Contracts usually expire at the end of May and we’re aware Dembele has shown no signs of penning a new deal.
Karamoko had so much potential at the Hoops but it looks like the bhoys and the winger will part ways.
