Celtic Move Branded ‘Shameful’

Celtic and their Glasgow rivals got the nod to join the Scottish Lowland League on Monday night and it’s created quite the backlash.

The social media account of the East of Scotland Lowland League led the charge against the move on social media, 24 hours after they and other leagues penned a letter warning against this going ahead.

They’ve branded it ‘shameful’ to allow Celtic Colts to play in the league next season in a one-off trial.

Celtic have been trying to get a colt team in the league for years. Jock Stein was the man who first tried to make it happen. It’s always faced stern opposition when the idea has come up and when the SPFL clubs again opposed the move within the SPFL – the two clubs went to the Scottish Lowland League.

The vote on Monday means Celtic can field a young team in the league next season but will be excluded from promotion or relegation.
