Celtic Miss Second Champions League Deadline

It was last week when Hapoel Be’er Sheva told their fans Hatem Abd Elhamed was on his way to Celtic to conclude a deal with the treble treble winners.

The defender looked to come in way ahead of schedule and be registered for the Champions League squad in the original sheet before midnight Thursday last week. However, Celtic didn’t get the player’s deal done in time and he was not included in the squad.

There was one last chance to get the player in before this round of Champions League fixtures had he been signed. Celtic could’ve registered the player as a wild card option just 24 hours out from the game and leaving Elhamed to play some part in maybe the away fixture.

We sit on Wednesday and the player is still not officially a Celtic player so the club has missed their second and final deadline for this round. If the Scottish Champions get past Kalju they will go onto face either Cluj or Maccabi Tel-Aviv – you would have to think the defender would be in and registered in plenty of time for that tie.
