Celtic Midfielder’s Surprising Early International Release

Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy is part of a group of Australian players who have been allowed to leave the Socceroos camp early and return to their clubs.

Mooy joined up with the Australian team last week and was scheduled to be part of the team who are scheduled to play New Zealand on Sunday. Instead, the Austria boss Graham Arnold has allowed a large part of his squad to return to their respective clubs and prepare for their domestic duties that begin again next weekend.

Mooy was part of the Celtic team who were soundly defeated by St Mirren before the international break. The midfielder’s first Celtic start ended in disappointment and he’ll want to put that right when club football returns.

Australia supporters are a bit miffed by the early exodus and hardly see it as a good idea considering the World Cup is around the corner.

We wonder if Mooy will be catching a flight back with Ange Postecoglou who has also been in Australia. The Celtic gaffer has been on club duties, promoting the upcoming Sydney cup.
