Celtic Midfielder Told He Can Leave on Loan

Celtic have put the word out that they’re opened to loan offers for James McCarthy before tonight’s deadline with the bhoys closing in on a new defensive midfielder.

The club look set to announce the signing of Oliver Abildgaard from Rubin Kazan, a 6ft 4” defensive mid.

Given James is already on the outer reaches of the first team squad, bringing in another player in his position will likely mean he falls out of the squad altogether once Oliver is fit.

With that in mind, according to Sky Sports man Anthony Joseph, Celtic have told James he will be allowed to go out on loan for the season if there are interested clubs.

The Irish international’s move to the club came at a time when the Hoops needed numbers, and it’s pretty clear to see, while Ange green lit the McCarthy’s deal, it wasn’t one of his signings. James has been used sparingly, and if he wants first team football this season, a loan move would be ideal for all parties.
