Celtic appear to be edging ever closer to securing the signature of Royal Antwerp winger Michel‑Ange Balikwisha this summer.
The 24‑year‑old Belgian winger, who enters the final year of his contract at the Bosuilstadion, has long been a target for the Hoops. Reports from Voetbalkrant suggest that discussions between the two clubs have been ongoing “for some time” and are now reaching their final stages, with the move set to “push through”.
Antwerp are understood to be motivated by the impending end of Balikwisha’s deal, and the need for cash this transfer window.
With no extension forthcoming, the Belgian side are said to be keen to wrap up negotiations swiftly—and a deal with Celtic could provide a welcomed financial boost.

The timing is crucial for the Glasgow side. Nicholas Kühn’s imminent £17.2million departure to Como leaves a hole on the wing, while Portuguese winger Jota is not expected to return from injury before February.
That leaves Brendan Rodgers’ side light in wide attacking options, and Balikwisha’s arrival would represent a significant reinforcement.
Balikwisha, a product of Standard Liège’s academy, made the move to Antwerp in 2022. Since then he’s impressed in the Belgian First Division A, combining real pace with direct dribbling and flair on the flank. At 24 he offers both potential and immediate impact—qualities Celtic’s hierarchy would value.
While we can’t be certain if this deal will get over the line—it’s at least comforting to see the club being very active in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements.
