Celtic Star Makes Return To Training

Celtic winger Mikey Johnston has made a return to training after recovering from his recent injury knock against Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup.

The Lennoxtown academy graduate has found luck hard to come by in recent years, sustaining small knocks and not being able to gain any momentum within the first-team setup.

His latest setback came during the 4-0 win over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup, as the tricky wideman was forced to leave the field of play after picking up an injury.

However, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou revealed during yesterday’s press conference that Johnston was now back in action, training with the first team, having made a quick recovery.

Postecoglou talked up both Johnston and fellow academy graduate Karamoko Dembele and their development within the side, as both emerge as potential options returning to action after lay-offs through injury.

“We’ve got competition in those wide areas, so that’s his challenge. Mikey Johnston is now back training as well. For me, with those kinds of players, it’s about giving them opportunity and allowing them to develop.”

Although fans might find the injury knocks to Johnston a little frustrating, you can only begin to imagine the frustration the player himself is holding over his continued setbacks when trying to get up to speed.

Ange Postecoglou appears to be a fan of the 22-year old, along with a number of his Celtic teammates, who have been keen to talk up the talents of the winger over the past few weeks.

Both Johnston and Dembele will be hoping to be provided with an opportunity to impress once again, coming off the bench as the duo have done at points during this campaign.
