Reports on Monday stated that Celtic had made an approach for Augsburg’s Arne Engels, however, the £6.5 million approach was rejected.

Now, it’s reported by Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph that Celtic have put down another offer.
Celtic have now submitted an offer worth £9 million for the 20-year-old.
Despite Augsburg’s reluctance to sell the promising 20-year-old during this transfer window, Celtic is determined, particularly with Brendan Rodgers eager to secure Engels’ services to fill the void left by Matt O’Riley’s move to Brighton.
Engels himself is reportedly interested in joining Celtic, attracted by the prospect of playing in the Champions League.
Personal terms are already said to be agreed between the player and Celtic.
However, the current bid still falls short of Augsburg’s valuation, which ranges between £11 million and £12.6 million according to Sky Germany.
The clubs are still said to be negotiating, with just three days left of the transfer window.
Celtic is keen to bring the player to Glasgow, along with another midfielder before the Friday deadline.
