Celtic have stepped up their search for firepower by making a loan approach for Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana, as the clock ticks down towards the end of the summer transfer window.
The Ivorian forward joined Chelsea from Molde in January 2023 but has found opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge. He spent time on loan at Union Berlin, Burnley and then Göztepe last season, and Chelsea are open to sending him out again to continue his development.

The Hoops are still looking to sign two strikers before tonight’s 11pm deadline in Scotland, but time is running out.

Celtic have turned to Fofana after missing out on top target Kasper Dolberg, who has chosen to return to Ajax instead. A £5.5m bid for Hammarby’s Sebastian Tounekti was also rejected on deadline day, adding further urgency to Celtic’s recruitment efforts.
With Adam Idah on the verge of completing his move to Swansea City, Celtic are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements. Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that any departures must be balanced by incoming players — and the move for Fofana could be critical in that regard.
With the 11pm Scottish deadline looming, the Hoops are still aiming to bring in two strikers before the window slams shut — and Fofana has emerged as a key target.
Celtic face a tense few hours ahead as they work to secure late deals and avoid ending the window short in attack.
