Celtic has reportedly set its sights on Ajax left-back Owen Wijndal as they aim to bolster their defensive options and intensify competition for Greg Taylor.

According to Sky Sports, Celtic has initiated inquiries about the availability of the 24-year-old Dutch international, who appears to be on the market as Ajax is open to offers.
Wijndal, who has already earned 11 caps for the Netherlands, spent the previous season on loan at Royal Antwerp in Belgium. Originally rising through the ranks at AZ Alkmaar, where he was a standout performer and even captained the side, Wijndal made a move to Ajax in 2022 for a reported fee of €10 million.
Despite being highly touted in his early years and linked with moves to the Premier League, Wijndal has found himself out of favour at Ajax. Celtic’s interest could provide him with an ideal platform to revive his career and live up to the potential that once made him a sought-after prospect in European football.
Werder Bremen is also reportedly inquiring about his services.
