Celtic Make First Enquiries For Dutch Striker – Report

It is widely known that Celtic are in the market for a striker this coming January. Kyogo and Oh Hyeon-gyu could be unavailable for a while at the start of 2024 due to the Asian Cup.

This has led Brendan Rodgers to want to strengthen his frontline, and the Hoops have reportedly made their ‘first enquiries’ about signing Bologna striker Sydney van Hooijdonk (Corriere di Bologna via Daily Record). Son of former Hoops centre-forward Pierre, the 23-year-old has been frozen out at Bologna this campaign.

van Hoiijdonk has managed just 41 minutes of league action, but he did score in the Coppa Italia in his only start of the current season to date. His manager Thiago Motta is said to be keen to move him on in order to make way for new signings.

Standing at six foot two, van Hoiijdonk, like his old man, is a tall, imposing centre-forward. If he does sign for the Bhoys, he will likely get minutes straight away and be expected to make an instant impact in Glasgow due to the absence of others.
