Celtic is setting their sights on one of the Bundesliga’s emerging stars, Augsburg’s Arne Engels, making him a top target for this transfer window, according to a report from FootballTransfers.

Celtic could watch Matt O’Riley leave this summer and are sounding out replacements. They’ve already brought Bernardo back to the club after a successful loan, but Engels could also make a Parkhead move.

Since joining Augsburg in January 2023, the 20-year-old Belgian has played across the midfield, from defensive to attacking, making him a potential replacement for O’Riley.

According to the report, his transfer value could reach €11 million (£9.5 million), which would see another big transfer fee for Celtic this summer. Celtic have reportedly agreed on a record-breaking fee for Adam Idah, who is expected to be announced as a Celtic player in the next few days.

There are just over two weeks left in the transfer window, with Celtic still expected to make a few moves.
