CELTIC have announced they are to voluntarily close part of the standing section for the Rennes game in a bid to stave off harsher punishments from UEFA after more breaches which could relate to a number of things – including pyro.
The section which will be closed will almost certainly be the bottom part where the Green Brigade are situated on match days and have set off the pyro.
Celtic got a fine earlier this season for the spectacular Muhammad Ali banner which gained a lot of praise throughout the football community.
They were fined for illicit banners during the Lazio home game and by the club’s actions they now face another charge for pyro at Lazio away. That hearing will take place on December 12th.
Celtic fans are split over the use of pyro and we ourselves praised the GB for their use of them this season in certain instances.
The stand off between football clubs, the governing bodies and supporters has no end in sight with no real talks between how to do this safely.
Until serious dialogue is opened up between the club and the supporters group over this then there will likely be unrest.
