Celtic Loanee’s Spell Comes to an End as he Heads Back to Homeland

Celtic loanee Kwon has bid farewell to St. Mirren following a loan spell that, while initially promising, was ultimately marred a season-ending hamstring injury in April.

Kwon, who has not yet played a competitive minute for Celtic since his signing last summer, will be returning to South Korea to undergo rehabilitation, he confirmed on Instagram.

Kwon’s time at St. Mirren started on a positive note, but his inability to stay fit has prevented him from making a significant impact at the club.

Despite this setback, St. Mirren’s manager, Stephen Robinson, has expressed a strong interest in bringing the South Korean midfielder back to the Paisley-based club for the next season.

Robinson’s keenness to re-sign Kwon suggests that the player showed enough potential during his initial performances to warrant another chance, should he recover fully from his injury. The return to his home country for rehab is hoped to facilitate a full recovery, allowing Kwon another opportunity to prove his worth in Scottish football.

He’ll hopefully return for pre-season, where Rodgers will assess the midfielder and make a decision on his future.
