Celtic Loanee Suffers Europa League Extra-Time Heartbreak

It was a night to forget for Gustaf Lagerbielke as he suffered heartbreak with FC Twente in the Europa League against Bodø/Glimt in Norway.

Twente went into the Europa League knockout play-off second leg 2-1 up after a win a week ago in Holland. However, two stoppage-time goals from Kjetil Knutsen’s side and a 96th-minute Twente goal sent the game to extra time, with normal time finishing 3-2 to Bodø/Glimt, making it 4-4 on aggregate.

Extra time wouldn’t be kind to Lagerbielke and Twente, with the momentum on Bodø/Glimt’s side. The Norwegian side would score two further goals in extra time to seal progression to the next round 6-4 on aggregate, in what was a disappointing night for Lagerbielke—exiting the Europa League and conceding 5 goals in 120 minutes.

Lagerbielke recently revealed how he doesn’t hear much from Celtic, despite only being on loan at Twente without an option to buy.

However, the tone in which the Swede discussed his Celtic future suggests he is set to leave permanently in the summer, with reports that the Hoops are looking to cash in on the in-form Swede, who has impressed in Holland.
