“Confident” Celtic Loanee Sparks Comeback Amid Transfer Transfer Talk

Marco Tilio is finally beginning to show the kind of form that earned him a move to Celtic in 2023, as he starred in Melbourne City’s 3-2 comeback win over Brisbane Roar.

The winger, currently on loan from Parkhead, was named man of the match after netting a crucial equaliser that sparked City’s turnaround.

It’s been a difficult season for the Australian international, hampered by injuries and struggling to make an impact during his brief stint in Scotland. His return to Melbourne was viewed as a chance to get back to basics, and it’s a move that appears to be paying off.

Tilio’s goal on the night took his season tally to four, but more importantly, his all-round performance reflected a player full of confidence again.

Speaking after the match, the 23-year-old said he’s finally feeling like himself.

“I think it’s just consistent gains and confidence.

“I feel I’m at that level now that I’m confident in myself again and in my body, and I know what I’m capable of doing.

“It’s just getting the trust from the coaches and my teammates that I’m able to sort of contribute the way I’m supposed to in the front third and I just sort of feel like I can flourish with some of the older boys behind me, giving me confidence as well.

“So over the last few weeks, it’s been sort of like that, and I just want to keep building going into finals now.” [A-League]

There’s growing speculation that Tilio’s time at Celtic could be coming to an end, with the player himself admitting there has been “a little bit of chat” about a permanent move away.

After struggling to settle in Glasgow and making just two appearances in green and white, the winger may be eyeing a return home or elsewhere where consistent minutes are guaranteed.
