Celtic Loanee Opens Goal Scoring Account

Celtic loanee Jonathan Afolabi grabbed his first goal for temporary side Ayr United on Saturday, as they fought back to claim a 1-1 draw against Arbroath.

The Irishman came off the bench to play the final 22 minutes of the game and scored the important goal, which secured the Honest Men a point on the road at a tricky venue in the Scottish Championship.

So far this season, Afolabi has found game time hard to come by making just one start since joining on loan until the end of the season in the summer.

However, he might have made his chances of getting into Jim Duffy’s side a little better by opening his account at Gayfield Park this weekend.

Afolabi’s current Celtic deal looks set to come to an end at the beginning of next season.

So, with that in mind, in his third spell in the Scottish Championship, he will have to put in some impressive displays in the next few months in order to gain another extension with the Hoops.

This goal will possibly kickstart his season and gain him more opportunities in the United side.
