Celtic Loan Duo Shine for Their Club in Big Friday Night Win

Celtic loan duo Ben Summers and Matthew Anderson shone for Admira Wacker on Friday evening.

The pair both scored as their side defeated SV Stripfing 2-0 away from home in Austria’s second tier.

Midfielder Summers, who made his senior Hoops bow under Ange Postecoglou last year, debuted for his new loan club last night and opened the scoring 16 minutes in.

Anderson then doubled the lead not long after, bagging his second goal contribution of the season from full-back.

Matthew Anderson

The 20-year-old spent last term on loan with Admira, making 22 appearances across all competitions. He set up six goals and scored one in the process, making it into the Team of the Season in Austria’s second tier.

After returning to Celtic in the summer and receiving a few pre-season first-team opportunities, Anderson rejoined Admira in August, with Summers also making the move.

The loan switches are part of Celtic’s partnership with the Austrian side.

It began last year; since then, three youngsters have moved abroad to play for Admira.

It didn’t quite work out for goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi last season, but it did for Anderson, who is already impressing not long into his second year at the BSFZ-Arena.

Summers will hope to follow in his footsteps after netting on his first start last night.
