Celtic Linked with Danny Ings – But Move Looks Unlikely

PLZ Soccer have claimed that Danny Ings is a deadline-day target for Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers still in the market for a striker before the window closes tonight.

The 32-year-old West Ham forward has been mentioned as a possible late signing for the Hoops, but any move appears highly unlikely, with Ings named on the bench for West Ham’s clash against Chelsea in the Premier League’s Monday Night Football.

Rodgers has been looking to bolster his attacking options following Kyogo departure to Rennes, with the Hoops currently light up front. While Adam Idah and Johnny Kenny remain the only recognised strikers in the squad, bringing in another forward before the 11 pm deadline looks increasingly difficult.

Daniel Cummings has signed a pre-contract with West Ham and Celtic have rejected offers from the London-based side as they attempted to bring the 18-year-old to the club early.

Despite reports linking him to Parkhead, Ings’ involvement with West Ham tonight suggests he won’t be moving before the deadline. If Celtic had any serious interest, he likely wouldn’t be in Graham Potter’s matchday squad.

With time running out, it remains to be seen whether Rodgers will pursue another late target, but a deadline-day move for Ings now seems off the table.
