Kelly, who spent 12 years with Rangers from his youth days through to professional ranks, left for Livingston in 2018 without making a senior appearance for the Glasgow giants.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper, whose contract with Motherwell is expiring, was identified as a potential target by Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers for the upcoming transfer window.

However, Kelly’s availability on a free transfer seems to have attracted Rangers.

Celtic has been linked with a variety of names in recent times. The latest to join this list is Koen Casteels, indicating that Celtic’s scouting network is casting a wide net across Europe. Previous goalkeeper links have included Uğurcan Çakır, Asmir Begovic, Alex McCarthy, Caoimhin Kelleher, Etienne Vaessen, Andriy Lunin, Aro Muric, and Patrick Pentz.

Replacing Joe Hart will be no easy task, but Celtic are certainly casting their nets far and wide
