Blackburn Rovers forward Sammie Szmodics has openly expressed his ambition to play in the Premier League, casting doubts on the likelihood of a move to Celtic despite reported interest.

The Republic of Ireland international, who has been a standout in the English Championship with 27 goals this season, is also attracting attention from Fulham and Brentford.
In a recent interview with No Tippy Tappy Football, Szmodics shared his aspirations, stating, “Obviously I’d love to stay at Blackburn because you want to be the main man and this season I’ve taken that role and I’ve loved it. But if there’s a Premier League team that’s gonna really give you a shot, it’s my dream growing up. It’s everyone’s dream growing up to play at the highest level.”
Given the high transfer fees and salaries in the English top tier, Celtic may find themselves priced out of a move for Szmodics.
His comments suggest a preference for continuing his career in England, especially if it includes a step up to the Premier League, leaving Celtic potentially looking elsewhere to bolster their attacking options.
Celtic are still fighting on two front, but the league is all but wrapped up. Once the Scottish Cup final is out of the way you’d imagine trabsfer links will spring up left, right and centre.
