Celtic Legends to Honour Wim Jansen in Feyenoord Tribute Match

Celtic Legends will head to De Kuip this October for a special match against Feyenoord Legends, with all money raised going to support the Feyenoord Foundation.

The match takes place on Sunday, October 12th at 1:00 PM and will honour Wim Jansen, a man who made a lasting impact at both clubs.

The two sides will compete for the Wim Jansen Cup, named after the former midfielder who won the European Cup with Feyenoord and famously led Celtic to the league title in 1998, stopping Rangers’ bid for ten in a row. Jansen passed away in early 2022.

The game is more than just a chance to celebrate football history. It is also a fundraiser for the Feyenoord Foundation, which runs programmes in Rotterdam focused on health, young people, and inclusion.

Feyenoord have already confirmed a strong lineup, with former players like Graziano Pellè, Dirk Kuyt, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Pierre van Hooijdonk and ex-Celt Glenn Loovens set to play. They will be managed by Bert van Marwijk, who won the UEFA Cup with the club in 2002.

Celtic Legends are still to confirm their squad, but fans will be looking forward to seeing past heroes in the Hoops again, with big names from recent years expected to take part.

You’ll Never Walk Alone will ring out before kick-off, celebrating the bond between the clubs and the spirit of the event. Celtic and Feyenoord both have proud histories of passionate support and strong links to their communities, making this a fitting way to remember Jansen.

Supporters travelling to Rotterdam can also enjoy a lively build-up outside the ground, with games, activities and entertainment planned before the action gets underway.

This is not just another legends match. It is a celebration of two great clubs, a shared past, and a tribute to a man who brought success and pride to both sides.
