Celtic are 12 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and Ange Postecoglou is well on his way to winning his second consecutive title in Glasgow’s east end.
Almost everyone believes the league is all but over and this includes legendary Lisbon Lion Willie Wallace.
Speaking to The Scottish Sun, the striker, who scored 140 goals in 239 Celtic appearances, said Postecoglou’s high standards will not slip between now and the end of the campaign (The Scottish Sun):
“The league is over. Ange won’t allow Celtic to throw it away from this position.”
12 clear, it is practically impossible to see anyone catching Celtic at the minute. Moreover, Wallace thinks there is a significant gap between the Hoops and their city rivals as things currently are:
“I was a bit disappointed with Rangers on Saturday. I didn’t see the drive of the Rangers teams I played against.
“They caused Celtic some problems from crosses and set pieces, but there is a gap between the teams.”
This gap in terms of the league was only widened on Saturday and it is one the Bhoys will be looking to put testament to in the Scottish cup semi final at the end of the month:
“The Scottish Cup semi final at the end of the month is now the big one for both teams.
“Celtic will want the treble and Rangers are desperate to stop them and get their hands on the cup.
“It’s the only trophy Ange hasn’t won so far and they will be fired up for it.”
At the beginning of the season, a treble would’ve been the target for Celtic. Now, many believe they can do it and Wallace thinks the Bhoys are favourites yet again for the semi final:
“I would make them favourites again in the semi.
“When you have Kyogo in the form he is in, backed up by the likes of Jota, Celtic will be really hard to stop.”
Prior to the semi final, Celtic do still have a few league games to negotiate. Postecoglou will want six points from Kilmarnock and Motherwell before any focus is shifted to the next Glasgow derby.
