Celtic’s chaotic transfer window continues to come under heavy scrutiny, with Birmingham City now reportedly “furious” at how the club handled the collapse of Hyunjun Yang’s proposed move to St Andrew’s.
Journalist Mark Hendry reported on CeltsAreHere Extra Time that the English Championship side are far from pleased with the breakdown, having done all the legwork to finalise a £3 million deal – only for Celtic to fail to give the green light in time. Yang had travelled to England to undergo a medical, expecting the move to be completed smoothly.
It’s another example of questionable handling behind the scenes at Parkhead, with the Hoops’ transfer dealings now facing public criticism from several quarters. Earlier this summer, Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles slammed the club’s negotiation tactics, and former goalkeeper Benji Siegrist also voiced his frustration over failed transfer moves, accusing Celtic of blocking his exit.
Yang’s situation adds to the growing list of fumbled or delayed deals during a summer window that has left Brendan Rodgers’ squad short in key areas. While a late move to Gent remains possible given the extended Belgian window, the damage to Celtic’s reputation in the market may already be done.
With the dust barely settled on a window that ended with more questions than answers, the club now faces mounting pressure from fans and critics alike to modernise their recruitment approach or risk further embarrassment.
