Celtic is reportedly showing interest in Maika Nawrockiego, the 22-year-old Polish centre-back currently plying his trade at Ekstraklasa club Legia Warsaw.
Nawrockiego, a Polish youth international, has caught the attention of several clubs, including Turkish giants Galatasaray, with his impressive performances in the Polish top flight.
Patryk Golaszewski, a Polish journalist, has reported that Nawrockiego’s days at Legia Warsaw appear to be numbered.
The young defender played 31 games last season, with 25 of those appearances coming in the league, demonstrating his importance to the Warsaw side.
The defender is comfortable with the ball at his feet, and is strong on both his left and right.
Nawrockiego’s potential has been evident since his early days in football. A former youth player at German club Werder Bremen, he has developed into a reliable and promising defender at Legia Warsaw. His performances have not only attracted the attention of Celtic and Galatasaray but have also earned him recognition at the international level with the Polish youth teams.
Celtic’s interest in Nawrockiego comes at a time when the club is looking to strengthen its defensive options. With the future of several current defenders uncertain and injuries hampering the backline, the addition of Nawrocki could provide much-needed stability at the back.
