Stuart Armstrong could be set for a move to Championship newcomers Wrexham following his exit from Sheffield Wednesday.

The Celtic hero, who played a key role in Brendan Rodgers’ first stint in charge at Parkhead, is a free agent after leaving Hillsborough. He signed for the club on a short-term deal in January.
Armstrong made a name for himself at Celtic after joining from Dundee United in 2015, going on to win eight major honours, including four league titles and a place in the club’s iconic Invincibles season of 2016/17.
Following his time in Glasgow, the midfielder made the switch to Southampton, spending several seasons in the Premier League before heading to MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps and most recently Sheffield Wednesday.
According to a report from Alan Nixon in The Sun, ambitious Wrexham are eyeing up both Armstrong and former Scotland midfielder Barry Bannan. The Hollywood-backed club, led by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have just been promoted to the English Championship and are said to be willing to splash cash to ensure they stay there.
Armstrong, 32, is still fondly remembered by the Celtic supporters. While a return to Celtic appears unlikely, fans will always have a soft spot for the midfielder.
Should the move materialise, it would see Armstrong take on a new challenge in a rapidly changing club with big ambitions.
