Celtic is reportedly showing interest in Sam Curtis, a promising young defender from St. Patrick’s Athletic, amidst attention from several top Premier League clubs.
According to a report by 90min, Celtic has scouted the right-back, who has also caught the eye of Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Curtis, a Republic of Ireland U21 international, is expected to leave his club in January, with the Irish season having concluded and not set to resume until February. Since joining St. Patrick’s in July 2021 from Shamrock Rovers, where he made his League of Ireland debut at just 15, Curtis has rapidly developed his game.
At only 17 years old, he has made 34 appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists. His versatility is noteworthy, as he has played both as a right-back and a centre-back, similar to Liam Scales, who also played in multiple defensive roles for Shamrock Rovers before moving to Celtic.

While Celtic’s current right-back position is occupied by Alistair Johnston, with Anthony Ralston also recently signing a new deal, Curtis will likely be a signing for the future and could start off with the B Team.
