Celtic In Surprise Link To SPFL Defender

CELTIC is said to be linked to Bevis Mugabi in a report from the Scotsman. The Motherwell player’s contract is up in the Summer but Celtic are believed to be interested in adding the Ugandan to their squad this month.

The possible signing of the defender is a surprise, with Celtic strong in the center of defence at the moment. Carl Starfelt has a brilliant relationship with Cameron Carter-Vickers, who Celtic have opened negotiations with Spurs over a potential permanent deal. Stephen Welsh also offers back-up to the pair.

Chris Jullien is due back from his year-long absence soon, he will be looking to force his way back into the starting eleven, with Postecoglou describing him as a “new signing”.

Even if Celtic were looking for a defender currently in the league to add to their squad there are better options out there I believe, like John Souttar who is in the same position as Bevis Mugabi having entered the final six months of his contract. However, reports suggest he is keen on a move down south.

All in all, this move doesn’t seem too realistic and should be filed under the ‘paper talk’ category at the moment.
