Celtic are reportedly deep in negotiations with Manchester Utd over a loan move for Scott McTominay according to Sky Sports News.
The Celtic manager refused to discuss any specific targets during his Scottish Cup pre-match press conference but the sports broadcasters seem to think Celtic are in pole position to sign the Manchester Utd star and have shown an interest.
This has got a mixed reaction from Celtic fans who are desperate to see Celtic bring in a proper right back for the second half of the season and are despairing at the prospect of another midfielder joining the club; especially if it’s just on-loan.
This is from their Transfer Centre:
Celtic are continuing negotiations with Manchester United over a loan deal for midfielder Scott McTominay, Sky Sports News understands.
The 22-year old Scotland international is understood to be available on loan, having failed to feature in the first team since Jose Mourinho’s departure last month.
Scott Allan has just signed a pre-contract with Hibernian which is likely to free up a space in the squad, especially if he moves earlier than the summer.
McTominay could come in and be a part of a revamped Celtic midfield, but it all seems a little short term focused with Celtic not having a real plan for transfers.
You get the impression they see an opportunity to bring a player in due to arising circumstances rather than have a well scouted approach.
