The Malian international has spent the last five seasons in the United Arab Emirates, but is now expected to make the move to Europe, with Celtic pushing to bring him to Glasgow.

Reports claim the Scottish champions would need to pay around €3million to secure his services, while agreeing wages in the region of €1.5million per year. Negotiations are said to be progressing well, with optimism that a deal could be finalised in the coming days.

Traoré has built a strong reputation in the UAE Pro League, and seems to be quite highly rated. Celtic’s need for wide reinforcements has been clear all summer, with Brendan Rodgers currently short of options on the wings.

If a deal is struck, Traoré would become Celtic’s latest attacking addition in a window that has already seen Osmand and Yamada brought in in the attacking third.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he is hopeful that Celtic can bring in some new faces before their Champions League qualifier. Even though the deadline for registering players has passed, the Hoops can still add an additional two players a day before the first leg.

The manager said, ”Hopefully would be the answer to that. We have right up until I believe it’s the day before the game to change your squad, so hopefully that can be the case.

“I think we’ve said it all along, and I don’t want to dwell too much on it.

“It’s been constant and I’m not clever enough for you guys to say the same thing 20 times differently. So we hope that we can improve it, and hopefully by then we will do.”
