Gordon Strachan will begin his role at Celtic despite the SFA being set to investigate a possible breach of Article 13 later this month, the 64-year-old will still start his advisory role at Celtic, according to the BBC.
On Wednesday, we reported that a possible outcome could be that the former Celtic manager would need to choose between Dundee, his current employer, and Celtic, where he is to commence a three-month advisory role.
Celtic are said to not be concerned about the outcome of the investigation, and rightly so in my opinion.
Strachan is said to breach Article 13 which in short in a conflict of interest.
As written by the BBC the law uses some intriguing wording;
“Except with the prior written consent of the board, any person who (i) is a member of a club, (ii) is involved in any capacity whatsoever in the management or administration of a club, or (iii) has any power whatsoever to influence the management or administration of a club may not take up any such role with another club until such time as the Scottish FA is reasonably satisfied that such person has ceased to hold such role in the first club.”
The words ‘management and ‘administration’ appear in the law. Strachan is joining Celtic to simply advise the new CEO on what needs improvement – he will not influence the first team. Dom McKay will then take on advice and aim to modernise the club, after all that is what he promised.
