World Darts Champion Luke Littler took to Old Trafford yesterday, presenting his trophy to the Manchester United crowd, with former Celtic midfielder and manager Lou Macari making the most of the opportunity to meet Littler.
Macari, who played for Celtic from 1966 until 1973 before joining United, winning four league titles with the Hoops and two Scottish Cups during his time in Glasgow.

He returned to Celtic in 1993, just over 20 years after leaving the club as a player, this time as manager, winning his first Old Firm game 2-1 at Celtic Park. However, after Fergus McCann took over as owner of the Hoops in March 1994, he would sack Macari three months later.
Littler, who has become somewhat of a social media sensation since making his debut in the PDC World Darts Championship in December 2023, even reaching the final, aged 16 years and 347 days.
In the year since, the Englishman has reached five further PDC majors, winning the Premier League, World Series of Darts Finals, Grand Slam of Darts, and the World Darts Championship against Michael van Gerwen earlier this month.
With Macari at the game on Sunday at Old Trafford to watch his former side, he made the most of the opportunity to link up with Littler, with the former Celtic boss being a huge fan of Littler, taking to social media to hail the ‘great champion.’
No, I didn’t challenge him to a game of darts at Old Trafford this afternoon. A great champion pic.twitter.com/Jj3Sf9bCVY

Great to see Macari still in fine form at 75. Having spent some special time at Celtic as a player, he is well regarded by Hoops supporters and Manchester United supporters.
It was meant to be a day to remember for the pair, though that didn’t pan out, as United suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brighton, with Bruno Fernandes scoring from the spot.
