Young Boys also received a fine for their pyro display at the start of the match, something that has seen Celtic in hot water this season.
That match was one of Celtic’s most dramatic European nights in recent years as they secured Champions League knockout football for the first time in 12 years.
The tense encounter saw Daizen Maeda sent off late on, Arne Engels miss a penalty, and Kyogo Furuhashi have three first-half goals ruled out. It also worked out to be Kyogo’s last game for the club.
Despite the frustration, Celtic found a way through in the dying moments, with Loris Benito’s own goal securing a dramatic victory and ensuring Brendan Rodgers’ side progressed beyond the group stage.
Celtic’s European adventure continued into the knockout play-off round, where they pushed Bayern Munich to the limit. After a 2-1 defeat at Parkhead, the Hoops led 1-0 in Germany thanks to Nicolas Kuhn’s goal, only to be denied extra time by a heartbreaking 94th-minute equaliser from Alphonso Davies.
