Celtic Hero Can Reignite His Parkhead Career – Opinion

James Forrest has looked like a bright spark in the previous two matches he has came off the bench and could be a very useful player for Celtic during this hectic period of fixtures.

The 31-year old made his 450th appearance for the club in the 2-0 defeat to RB Leipzig but had a decent outing after being subbed on for Liel Abada just before the interval.

Forrest signed a new deal with Celtic in May which will take him until 2025 at Celtic Park with it looking all but likely that he will become a one-club man.

He is one of the most experienced individuals in the side having won 20 major honours since his debut 12 years ago. With Callum McGregor out of the team it is important there is someone around the squad who has been there and done it with Forrest having a wealth of experience.

In recent years he hasn’t featured too regularly for the club due to issues with injury but did play a part during Ange Postecoglou’s first season scoring the only goal that took Celtic to the League Cup final as well as scoring the final goal in a 3-1 victory at Livingston to end the away hoodoo.

The winger has only managed six appearances so far this season and could be given some more time on the park during the remaining nine games before the World Cup.

Having managed to score in the League Cup against Ross County, the Celtic academy graduate is now only two goals away from 100 goals in green and white hoops which he will hopefully achieve this season.
