Celtic Have Multiple Bids Knocked Back For MLS Striker

Celtic have failed in multiple attempts to sign Columbus Crew striker Jacen Russell-Rowe.

An international teammate of Alistair Johnston, the 21-year-old was in the Canada squad that made history with their run to the semi-finals of the recent Copa America.

American sports journalist Tom Bogert reports that a Scottish club have had multiple offers for Russel-Rowe rejected, with SunSport claiming that the team is Celtic.

It is said that Brendan Rodgers believes the centre-forward could be the ideal addition to his frontline, but that the Hoops’ proposals so far have been below Crew’s valuation of the player.

Russel-Rowe has bagged five goals and assisted another for his side this year. Still raw, he has vast potential and stands at six feet tall.

He was the top scorer in the MLS Next Pro league as a teenager, bagging 21 in 19 games a few years back.

The Canadian’s contract with Columbus Crew expires at the end of 2024, and that, combined with the striker’s credentials, has perhaps sparked Celtic’s interest in him.

The club want to sign Russel-Rowe given their activity so far, but it remains to be seen whether they will get their man.
