Willie Collum has been appointed to take charge of Celtic’s Premier Sports Cup tie against Ross County.
The 43-year old is yet to referee Celtic this season having been the man in the middle five times last year for the Hoops.
This appointment comes off the back of controversy during the Hibs v Rangers clash at Easter Road where he dismissed two players from the away side.
One of the dismissals has already been downgraded to a yellow card.
In wake of this drama, Collum has been demoted to the Scottish Championship this weekend to take charge of Queens Park against Cove Rangers.
He was last in charge of a Hoops game when he selected as the man if the middle for Celtic’s 2-1 victory at Ibrox in April with goals coming from Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
It’s important to call out the standard of refereeing and although Celtic won every game that the school teacher by day took charge of last season, there is the obvious recollections of awarding a penalty in a derby match with his back turned to name but one mishap.
The staggies are a team known to be very aggressive under Malky Mackay which is a worry for Celtic fans and Collum tends to provide very little protection.
