Earlier in the week Callum Davidson let it be known in the The Courier, St Johnstone would be without Glen Middleton for Saturday’s semi-final against Celtic. A big blow for the Saints as they look to defend their trophy.
Now tonight, the St Johnstone manager has confirmed Stevie May has been ruled out of the game, leaving his attacking options in tatters for the Saturday night fixture.
Callum told BT Sport: “Stevie suffered a knee injury in training so he’s going to be out for a while, probably up until Christmas. That’s a blow for us because we want good competition for places and he’s someone who either plays with energy or comes off the bench with energy.
“He’s going to be sorely missed. I’m gutted to lose him because he was just coming into a bit of form.”
Celtic have their own injuries but at least our attacking options are in a good place.
The bhoys will likely still be without Carl Starfelt and longtime absentees Greg Taylor and Christopher Jullien. Tom Rogic is unlikely to make it according to Ange.
We still have a lot of fire power and Stephen Welsh is fit and ready to take his place at centre back – deputising in Starfelt’s absence.
This will be Ange’s first game at Hampden, and it will also be the first time the Hoops have returned to the national stadium since winning the quadruple treble behind closed doors.
