Celtic Given Early International Boost For Next Season

Celtic have been handed an early boost for next season because of recent results involving the under-23s of South Korea.

Indeed, the side was playing at the under-23 Asian Cup, which is doubling up as qualifiers for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Last night, though, a disappointing 11-10 loss on penalties to Indonesia meant they wouldn’t qualify for the Olympics for the first time in 40 years.

The tournament is due to take place between the 24th of July and the 9th of August, meaning if South Korea did qualify, Celtic could have been without the likes of Oh and Yang for the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

Neither of the duo was called up for the recent matches because the Hoops stood firm and wanted them to stay put for the run-in, but they likely would have got the call if their country made it to France.

They haven’t, though, and should they not depart Glasgow before the beginning of the next campaign, Yang and Oh will be fully available and raring to go.
