Right now, it’s not working out for Lewis Morgan at Celtic. That’s not to say it can’t but at the moment he’s struggling to get into a side who continue to excel on the field.
The player spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland under Jack Ross and did well for the Black Cats. There was hope Lewis could come in this season and start to make his mark on the side but it’s not come to fruition as of yet.
The player has to take a leaf out of Ryan Christie’s book and go head to another SPFL side – gain experience and build his confidence so when Celtic to call him back he’s ready to go.
If that’s the option Lewis and Celtic are looking for in January, St Mirren have just provided a temporary Parkhead exit plan for the bhoy.
Jim Goodwin was asked if he could look to bring Lewis back to the club in January and he’s not ruled it out.
“Of course Lewis would be a player we’d love to get, he’s obviously been here before and been very successful. He’s a quality footballer but at this minute in time he’s not available.” Goodwin told RecordSport.
“We haven’t been told by Celtic that he is and he remains part of their squad.
“I wouldn’t hide from the fact that if we could have an opportunity of making that one happen then absolutely we would.
“We’ll wait until the window opens and we will have those conversations then.
“It’s all well and good speaking to Celtic but the player needs to want to come as well and he’ll have people advising him on that but Lewis is among a number of players that we’re looking at.
“We need to strengthen again in January, it’s as simple as that.”
Ryan Christie spent 18-months at Aberdeen after failing to make the grade at Celtic initially. Even when he came back from the loan, Ryan had ti bide his time until an injury presented an opportunity. You have to work hard and go over and above to get into a team like Celtic,
