FORMER Celtic midfielder, Scott Allan has took some parting shots at Celtic as he leaves the club to join up with Hibernian. The midfielder signed a pre-contract with Hibernian in January but didn’t get the move until the summer after hoping the two clubs could come to an agreement over him moving on early.

Allan was signed by Ronny Deila and disregarded pretty much straight away, he then was cast aside by Brendan Rodgers who saw no value in the player being a part of his squad. Two managers deeming him not good enough.

Ironically, it was Neil Lennon as Hibs boss who was chasing the midfielder for an Easter Road return and was in charge at Hibs when they initially signed Scott on his pre-contract.

The footballer has been frustrated and that’s understandable, but taking digs on the way out might not be the best course of action.

Asked if he was a victim of a breakdown in the relationship between Celtic and Hibs because of last summer’s John McGinn saga, Allan did believe there was some truth to that:

“I think that is the issue, definitely.” he told RecordSport.

“On transfer deadline night I was battering my phone – but nothing happened! There were other factors, obviously between the two clubs, and I was caught in the middle of it. It just wasn’t to be.

“I just wanted to come somewhere where I am appreciated and have a good relationship with the people and the hierarchy.”

When Allan was asked if he was always treated in a respectful manner by the club and again took his chance to stick the boot into his old employers.

“Not 100 per cent of the time, no. Definitely not.

“In football, when you are playing, you are part of the squad. When you aren’t part of that, it is easy to be cast aside and forgotten about.

“But it should be structured. If they want you to train with one group, you should be told: “Right, you’re training with them. Every day.”

“But it changed day to day. So it became a guessing game, where you were going to train – then you’d find out 10 minutes before it started.
