Benjamin Siegrist will stay at Genoa for another year after agreeing to extend his loan deal with the Serie A side.
The goalkeeper left Celtic last year and had a short spell in Romania with Rapid Bucuresti. He then moved to Italy in January and played twice for Genoa. Even though he didn’t get much game time, the club has decided to keep him for the new season.

Siegrist joined Celtic in 2022 from Dundee United but found it hard to get into the team. Joe Hart was the clear number one, and Siegrist only played two matches during his time at Parkhead. He spent most of his time as a backup and didn’t feature at all last season before moving on.
His loan move to Genoa came after a short run in Romania. He didn’t play often in Italy either, but the coaches were happy with what he brought to the squad. He gave them extra cover in goal and brought experience to the dressing room.

Now 33, Siegrist will hope to get more chances in the season ahead, but it’s clear his time at Celtic is over.
For Siegrist, staying in Italy gives him the chance to keep working at a high level, even if he isn’t starting every week. Genoa clearly see value in having him around, and he’ll be hoping for more minutes in the season ahead.
