Celtic Finally Confirm Player Exit – Handled Poorly

It was over a week ago when Mikael Lustig told the Swedish media his time at Celtic looked over after eight years at the club.

Celtic fans resigned themselves to the larger than life character leaving Celtic Park having won 16 trophies. However, everything fell silent after that while the rumours did their rounds. Some thought there would be one last attempt by both parties to get a deal done and keep the Swede at Celtic for a little longer but it has turned out not to be the case.

It wasn’t the club but Mikael Lustig himself who confirmed to the fans his Celtic adventure was over. Taking to Instagram the defender posted an emotional message to the Celtic support and nothing but respect has been shown back to the charismatic right back.

However, it took until after that announcement for the club to confirm it themselves.

Many believe the way Lustig’s exit has been handled is not befitting of the player’s contributions to our club. Even then it was merely a social media post and not a news item on the site with words from our CEO or manager.

Let’s hope the Celtic media team pick up the slack.
