Academy duo Matthew Anderson and Tobi Oluwayemi spent last season on loan with the second-tier Austrian side, gaining vital experience.

Competition between the sticks for Oluwayemi is stiff, but Anderson is looking to breakthrough at left-back.

The 20-year-old stood out for Admira last season and started for Celtic in their friendly with DC United at the weekend. The Scotland youth international impressed and was singled out for praise by Brendan Rodgers post-match.

His loan last term appears to have served him well. Anderson made over 20 appearances for Admira, who now expect to sign more young Celts.

The club’s sporting director, Peter Stoger, admitted his side are in continual dialogue with the Scottish champions about potential deals.

“We are in constant communication with Celtic and I do believe that something will happen soon”, he said (RecordSport).

“We are very hopeful to get players from them again.

“Matthew Anderson, in particular, did well last season and he has left a hole in the left-hand side of the team that we need to fill again.”

Celtic have a host of youngsters who could do with the experience of heading out on loan.

It is a proven mechanism for helping players improve and eventually come back to challenge for a place in the first team; the likes of Ryan Christie and Liam Scales massively benefitted from temporary spells elsewhere, and perhaps others might, too.
