Kyogo Incident Comes to Light

Yesterday on social media, there was a lot of talk surrounding referee decisions in the aftermath of Celtic’s 1-0 victory over Hearts.

Of course, there were lots made of the offside decision for Kyogo Furuhashi’s first-half strike, which looks an incredibly close call from any camera angles we have seen so far. But there also seems to be some sort of narrative being created online.

That narrative, opposition supporters online, is seemingly claiming that Kyogo is a diver.

We even saw compilations of incidents the Japanese frontman was involved in posted onto Twitter, with the latest incident involving himself and Hearts defender John Souttar.

At first glance, it is hard to tell what has gone on between the two. However, some Celtic supporters spotted a photograph that was taken after the two came together in the penalty area.

It appears that Kyogo was grabbed by the stomach, which is what has caused him to go down and also left a mark on his stomach, as pictured below.

This is becoming a common theme with Kyogo, that defenders are trying to use a ‘tough act’ to show him he’s in a game by grabbing him or slapping him in the back of the head.

Ultimately, the 26-year old just gets on with his job and continues to score crucial goals for Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
